 Beating the heat by enjoying the fonts and pools in the mountains

Route:  Benidorm – Callosa d’en Sarrià – Fonts d’ Algar – Guadalest – Penáguila – Quatretondeta  –   Benidorm

Distance:   122 km

Follow the CV70 in the direction of Callosa d’en Sarriá, passing from the N332 costal road. From the A7 motorway, exit at junction 65 to join the N332 in the direction of Alicante and take the next exit, following the signs for Callosa.

You will arrive at Callosa town centre after a little drive of about 15 km, take the second exit on your right from the roundabout with the new fountain on it, heading towards Bolulla and Tàrabena on the C3318. After two kilometers you will see a large sign indicating THE FONTS D’ ALGAR.

This is the entrance of the fonts. Opposite is a FREE car park, the parking places you passed belong to the restaurants and bars and the charge for parking there.

The Fonts d’Algar is a natural park of waterfalls and pools, and will enchant you, and if you remember your true soul you might even see the ancient magical signs.

After you have entered you pass along wooden walkways and across slatted bridges to reach a set of steps into the rocks alongside the waterfalls, lined with bamboo, oleander, and reeds. As you climb higher level areas offer natural swimming pools. The higher you get the chillier they become.

nespero Discover the stunning scenery of the timeless villages in the Costa Blanca.Leaving Fonts d’Algar, follow the road back to Callosa d’en Sarriá, and if you wonder why the hillsides are covered in green plastic foliage that is there to protect the nispero (loquat) trees as the bear their fruit.

Callosa is one of the main areas for nísperos.

Natural waterfalls and swimming pools.  Open daily April – September 09. am – 05pm July and August open till 08 pm October till March 10 am till 5.30 pm entry adults April –Sept.  aprox € 3 children under 12  € 1.17

Motorcycle Museum. Ctra. Callosa –Guadalest km7  open in the summertime 10.30 am till 8pm. Wintertime 10.30 am- 6 pm. When the weather is poor the museum sometimes closes early. Entrance tickets € 3
